What is the origin of your film ?
Friends of my parents started making videos with their little girl during the confinement. It made me want to make some too. I started by making my first film Containment and Trafficking. It’s a comedy. Then, as I like detective films with secret agents, I said to myself: I have to make one. And since I actually wanted to make a lot of them, I made a series. For the festival, I sent the episode 3 (but it’s understandable without having seen the 1 and the 2).
Could you explain your choice of editing ?
At the beginning of my film, I wanted there to be a TV news to make the character of the cannibal appear in the story. I used the images from a real TV news programme and turned off the sound. Then I recorded my father’s voice to replace the presenter’s voice.
First I cropped or cut out some of the scenes where you could see the person filming. When there was suspense, I added music to make more effect. I also used chance: photos of the cannibal’s hut ended up in the montage by chance, I left them there because I thought it looked good.
