Synopsis

Something happened to that city. Could be Beirut or just another anxiety inducing film.

Text from the selection committee

Beirut, perhaps, after one of its many disasters. Beirut, certainly, but filmed like Pompeii, a city that has become archaeological and that certain tactics or techniques of experimental cinema gauge, test, reorder. A new symphony reorders the rubble. There is no human being here, nothing but minerals (and walls in ruins), filmed, as if torn from nothingness, in a superb black and white worked by visual and sound glissando, which a pseudo-minimalist music magnifies. Who will say why disasters trigger, in some sepctateurs, such aesthetic feelings since Goya’s works?
