“You’re aware of climate change, and yet you’re unable to limit or change your consumption habits, which contribute to the degradation of life on earth. Perhaps you’re suffering from an addiction to capitalism!” Le chiffon.

Let’s start with an admission of weakness: in the face of capitalism, there’s little that experimental cinema can do. That said, experimental cinema, in its various artistic forms, can help us think of new modes of expression for a better (i.e. less worse) world. In this program - featuring a dozen films from the post-68 era to the present day - you’ll discover different filmic forms to express different anti-capitalist approaches. Christophe Frémiot (Collectif Négatif) examines the appropriate filmic treatment of insect extinction. Ecofeminist Sandra Lahire alerts us to the toxic chemical industry. Jérôme Lefdup summarizes the government’s contradictory messages on COVID-19. Mario Wienerroither makes Donald Trump’s silences speak for themselves. Avron, Eizykman, Fihman and philosopher Lyotard denounce advertising and cosmetic issues. Fabien Rennet (Collectif Négatif) edits images of neo-fascists to the sound of a canine documentary. Neozoon collects images of hunters and suggests their domestic toxicities. Jean-Gabriel Périot meditates on the organic certification system through a slide show. Erik Sémashkin denounces the Olympics as a pollution generator. Boris Du Boullay (Collectif Négatif) evokes the shift of summer from being a positive holiday season to a symbol of climate change. Nafiseh Moshashaeh uses photo-film to narrate a demonstration against pension reform. YMM (Collectif Négatif) uses found-footage to tackle the pro-cop series “Engrenages”. Finally, Soulèvements de la Terre calls for an anti-concrete front.

In the presence of Jérôme Lefdup, Erik Semashkin, Christophe Frémiot, Boris Du Boullay, Fabien Rennet and Jean-Gabriel Périot (in reserve)
