75005 Paris
Session as part of the Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris.
In the Velay region, treva (trève) is an alarming phenomenon: the cause of optical illusions, shifting objects, falling stones and mysterious noises, but also of demonic hijinks and sometimes the diabolical possession of certain occupants. Trevar means to frequent a place, to wander, to prowl. Conceived as a hallucinatory journey to the heart of the Velay volcanic plateau, La Trève - a performative film and sound installation - breaks away from the classic projection format to create an immersive experience of the documentary image.
“What is a landscape, that which stands before us or that which swallows us? The sensation of being sucked in, swallowed by the eyes, is where vertigo lies.”
