What’s your flavor? is the freaky side of the Collectif Jeune Cinéma association. Its catalog brings together experimental and different films that touch upon queerness.

What’s your flavor? takes the word queer literally and in its broadest sense. First and foremost, queer means not straight, therefore oblique or twisted. But also against heteronormativity.

The films selected for our catalog deviate from the pre-established path of mainstream productions. Non-narrative films, neither documentaries nor fictions, that escape the aesthetics and moral frameworks imposed by the necrophiliac system of overarching production companies. Our queer branch is a cinema from the margins, made by people with deviant (sexual, gender) identities.

For our collective’s tenth anniversary, we were delighted to receive a ton of films. Making a selection proved tricky at times, as we found ourselves animated by the films. The debates were never-ending and feverish discussions narrowly avoided fist fights.

In short, we’ve put together an exciting program for the occasion. This Saturday, June 14, 14 films will be presented, displayed over three screenings of an hour and a half each.

From musical films with ugly kitsch aesthetics to political-intimate archives in the form of testimonials including uncensored looks at trans, mutilated and artificial bodies, the three screenings explore queer in all its complexity. Themes include solitude, camp, love, systemic oppression and different representations of sexuality.

To mark the occasion, What’s your flavor? invites performers and sound artists. We have the pleasure of pacing the rythm of our three screening with 4 performances, each lasting around 30 minutes. And our dj is mixing a musical set to release all the endorphins accumulated in sweat over the course of the day.

We look forward to seeing you at the FAWA (where eating and drinking will be possible) on Saturday June 14 for what promises to be a very wicked day.
