Synopsis
Black Code / Code Noir brings together disparate geographies and temporalities in a critical approach to two recent events: the respective murders of Michael Brown and Kajieme Powell by police officers in Missouri, USA in 2014. Arguing that behind this present lies a sedimented history of slavery preserved by Black Code laws, the film assumes that these codes have morphed into algorithms that guide police database analysis and preside over the necro-political control of African Americans today.
