Half Human, Half Vapor

A sculpture garden of a mystic amidst hurricane devastation and foreclosures. The project grew out of a fascination with a giant statue of a dragon in a Florida mansion. The artist who created this work, Lewis Vandercar (1913-1988), began as a painter and his practice was enriched by a taste for bewitchment and telepathy. Inspired by parallel possibilities, the images are combined with text from local newspaper articles in a haunted house film that invites one to look beyond the material world.
