Duel

The documentary Duel has the feel of a masterfully made sports film. The main characters are shot putters: Poland’s Alfred Sosgornik and the United States’ David Davis go head to head. In Majewski’s film, the rivalry is presented like a ballet: the director uses slow motion, sometimes interrupting the image for a moment to emphasise the concentration and determination of the athletes.
