Wilgefortis' Prayer

Inspired by Madonna’s Like a Prayer, Leeds’ queer scene, donk music, and the purgatory, Wilgefortis’ Prayer explores the legendary Saint Wilgefortis, who grew a beard to avoid marrying a much older king. Taking the form of a music video, the film sees Wilgefortis questioning her future, as she is crucified for forsaking her father, in the limbo between heaven and hell, living and dying. It takes the loneliness of purgatory and imbues it with the messiness, sweatiness, and sweet abyss of the dancefloor.
