Since 2015, the Collectif Jeune Cinéma has been committed to (very) young creation through a call for films aimed at under-15s, to which a new category open to under-18s was added in 2021. Screened during two special sessions of the Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris, these independently produced works, with little in the way of means or experience, showcase a veritable creative ferment free from traditional standards and formats. The promotion of a different kind of cinema made by the youngest members of the community then translates into their inclusion in the CJC’s distribution catalog, giving them access to experimental film circuits and improving their distribution.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary of this call for films, the CJC’s Pôle Transmission is offering a retrospective at L’Archipel of the most significant works that have marked its history. From abstract formal research to more committed films, from found-footage to 3D or drawn animation, via the reappropriation of experimental cinema classics, this protean selection invites laughter, contemplation and rage, celebrating the unbridled creativity of young filmmakers.
