In this screening, the Collectif Jeune Cinéma presents a selection of previously unseen films from its catalogue. The programme has been developed around the film Skin Pixel, which presents error as a methodology and performative language - in the words of the artists’ collective ERROR, themselves inspired by the thinking of Jack Halberstam. How can technological error be sublimated and turned into a digital philosophy? Each of the films presented here is, in its own way, a critique of technological progress/bias. Whether they use digital tools to destroy the image itself - glitch, A.I., algorithms, editing, snow, feedback - or narrative diversions to tell the story of a schizophrenic world - such as the paralleling of pornographic and violent images gleaned from the internet to tell the story of Jeffrey Dammer - the films burst onto the screen, scrambling traditional communication channels to send us signals of the solar eruption.
