Synopsis

Drawing on personal histories and speculative storytelling, The Space Dykes and Other Adventures constructs an alternative archive of queer experience, one not bound to patrilineal or heteronormative lineage. Instead, the film builds a mythology of chosen kinships and transitory connections, remixing elements of memory and fiction into a dynamic, living narrative. Using Ursula K. Le Guin’s Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction, the vessel-like structure of the film mirrors the way queer people carry fragmented histories, both personal and collective, within themselves. Through its layered textures and chaotic yet intimate sonic landscapes, the film evokes the spectral remains of past relationships, manifesting longing and shame in digital form. The piece becomes a meditation on queer sociality and the ephemeral, fleeting nature of intimacy; how it is recorded, lost, and reformulated in new configurations.
