Session as part of the Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris.
A roundtable discussion and then a session moderated by Bidhan Jacobs and Jacques Perconte, with Cyril Béghin, Claire Chatelet, Pascal Martin, Carole Nosella, Joost Rekveld, and Vincent Sorrel, to challenge the official history of audiovisual technologies, shaped by the information and communication industries since 1990. The proposed aesthetic concept of “signal” offers an unobstructed view of the entirety of critical film art, particularly of the last twenty-seven years. The reflection will be deployed in images and sounds through a range of techniques for liberating the filmic signal, dʼinventions of radical form with the films of Joost Rekveld and Jacques Perconte.
